Memories of individuals and families who helped make Tuskegee great, then and now.
There was a time when the people who worked in Tuskegee lived in Tuskegee. They contributed to the community through civic, social and economic participation.
For many the legacy continues to this very day. Their inspiration lives on.

Dr Wilbur Robinson senior started the first and only black owned Pharmacy in Tuskegee in 1961 on the corner Fonville and Church St. in Tuskegee. He opened his own store because no one would hire him because of his skin color. The Robinson family built a new store across the street in 1983 which also housed doctor's offices.
Wilbur senior, originally from Selma, Alabama graduated in business from A & M and earned his pharmaceutical degree from Xavier University in New Orleans. He met Mrs. Robinson, a graduate of Howard University, and from this union produced three boys; Wilbur Jr, Al and John. Wilbur attended Howard University, John and Al graduated from Xavier with a degree in pharmacy.
Wilbur senior wound up in Tuskegee because he was stationed here as what is known now as the Tuskegee Airmen in a unit referred to as the Army Air Force.
